3 Steps to Start Celebrating Your Wins (and get more cake) 🍰

When was the last time you shared an accomplishment—really shared it? Told someone, “I did a thing, and I’m proud of it”?

Think about it:

  • What was the accomplishment?
  • How did you celebrate?
  • How many people did you tell?
  • And… what was their reaction?

Now, I’m going to take a guess at what might be happening in your head right now:

➡️ It’s been a while since you shared a win—and maybe you’re even struggling to remember the last one.

➡️ You can think of something recent, but you didn’t tell anyone.

➡️ Or you’re brushing it off, thinking it wasn’t “big enough” to count.

Sound familiar?

You’re not alone. I’ve felt that same hesitation—sometimes even fear—around saying, “I did something great, and I’m proud of it.” For me, it goes back to old lessons: be humble, don’t brag, don’t make a fuss unless it’s something huge.

Climbing Mt. Everest? Sure. Telling someone you set a boundary, asked for help, or followed through on a hard thing? Not so much.

But here’s the truth: when we downplay our wins, we chip away at our confidence. We miss the chance to strengthen our sense of capability. And, frankly, we miss out on cake. 🍰

So—if you’re ready for more confidence (and more cake), here are 3 small but mighty ways to flex your celebration muscles:

  1. Ask why you’re hesitating. Not sure your win “counts”? Ask yourself why. Are you holding yourself to perfectionist standards? Would you say the same thing to a friend? (I’m betting not - you’d probably shout, “That’s amazing! You deserve cake!”)
  2. Name what matters. What’s meaningful about the thing you did? Maybe it was small on the surface, but significant underneath. For example: I recently booked a physical therapy appointment. No big deal, right? But for me, it meant acknowledging I needed help, and actually asking for it. That’s growth - and worth celebrating.
  3. Say it out loud. There’s something powerful about hearing your own voice say, “I did this. I’m proud.” Even if you’re only telling your cat—it hits differently. It helps the accomplishment land in your bones.

I know it’s not always easy. That’s why I’m here to help.
